I have a custom rig, Here are the parts

  • ■Raidmax 500w Power Supply
    ■ECS A885GM-A2 (V1.1) AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard
    ■1 x G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR
    ■AMD Athlon II X3 445 Rana 3.1GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Desktop Processor ADX445WFGMBOX
    ■EVGA 02G-P3-2639-KR GeForce GT 630 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

The problem is, when I try to run a game the screen siezes up for a moment and I can hear the whirring sound from inside my computer slow down. This eventually clears up after a few minutes and my game resumes functioning. Then a few seconds after that it siezes up again. This cycle repeats until I give up and manually turn off my computer. Yet I know I have plenty of power going through my build. My computer has crashed several times because of this. Please help.

Replace that crappy power supply Raidmax ASAP, it is one of the worst brands you can buy. With power supplies quality trumps size. Poor quality power supplys will cause system instability and when(not if but when) they die(usually in a show of sparks and smoke and sometime fire) they can damage other components. Refer to the list in the link below and get something in the top 3 tiers, stay away from tiers 4 and especially 5(where all raidmax power supplies reside).

I will look into doing so then. Are there any other potential solutions before I close the thread?
