I've got a very old PC. I bought it in 2008. I don't have enough money to buy a whole new pc and I am thinking of upgrading its GPU for the next releases like the WITCHER 3, BF4 and others.
I am thinking of buying a GTX 760 and I've a C2D e4600. I know the cpu will
bottleneck but how much will I be able to play the above mentioned games in low to medium settings. ?
Will this bottleneck harm the hardware ?

I've a 1440*900 display with a 9400gt 1gb overclocked. And played METRO LAST LIGHT on full res with low settings. Even played Crysis 2, Tomb Raider 2013 and Bioshock Infinite.

Thanks for your reply's.

MY PC Specs:

C2d e4600
Intel DG41rq motherboard
3gb ram ddr2
gigabyte 9400gt 1gb

Huge bottleneck and no it doesnt harm hardware in any way, you probably will lose about 30fps more or less but you may be able to play the games just not well. Most modern ganes will require an quad core i5 at the least for fluid gaming. Maybe you could get the gpu now and save up for an upgrade of cpu and mobo and ram in the future.

It will bottleneck significantly but it will run.
My faster C2D E6700 bottlenecks my 6670 in some games.

BF4 hasn't been released so nobody can say for sure.

I wouldn't harm anything so you could buy the GPU and then transfer it to a new build once you have enough.
