Hi,

I might have an Idea what is going on with my connection that keeps on droppin g but let me first explain to you how the network is setup. We have different departments and in each department there is either a switch or a router that i used for a lan and a wireless connection. What my problem is, is that sometimes one of the connections randomly drops and i have to reset the router or switch to establish a connection again. It even happened to a computer that was directly connected to the network. It simply said network cable unplugged.
Anycase I have a theory that it might be badly crimped cables, bad cable itself or it could be the switches in the server room.

What do you guys think.
Thank you very much

Could be any of those, if talking crimping, sounds like cables made in place, could check and make sure cables wired correctly (OW, O, GW, B, BW, G, BW, B) have seen many just go straight through an wire G/GW next to each other. Also check cable lengths to be within the range (100 meters). Make sure proper cable is used i.e. Cat 5, CAT 5E, CAT 6...whatever your standard is. Is the load balanced i.e. 4-5 people through a switch with little bandwidth use, then maybe another office with same number of people yet all of them going ape to the server (i.e. an overloaded switch)
