Hey guys - I'm really getting frustrated here. I've built a fair few pc's before and have recently finished my new build yesterday.

The PC wont boot at all - Some aesthetic red-LED's light up on the motherboard but that is the only sign of activity. I've ensured everything is connected properly, there are no shorts (standoffs are correct etc.)

I've even tried using the bios update utility - which did work (using an external harddrive into the designated USB port) - the hard drive powered on, this coupled with the mobo led's suggest power is okay.

The mobo has a 'start' button which i have tried, ruling out any power-button problems.

Please help.

My specs are as follows if it is of any help:

- i7 4770k
- GTX 770 SC
- Corsair Vengence Pro 16gb (2x8) 1600MHz
- Corsair AX860 PSU
- Asus Maximus Hero Mobo

No beeps or anything from the speaker. The only activity I am getting is the little LED strip down the left side of the board.

Currently got all my components out of the case - build the barebones on a big piece of cardboard - exactly the same response. Just the LED strip lights up.

Update: Tried the paperclip test once more with a fan plugged in to the PSU - Both fans spinning, confirming the PSU is not dead and works fine. Even more stuck than before..

Not got immediate access to a multimeter - but I tried barebones test without ram and speaker installed. No beeps at all, no activity at all.

Does this suggest my mobo is dead?

No case fans are spinning when the barebones were in the case.

Out of the case, the CPU fan is still not spinning (the stock one that is. - as I am using a h100i in the actual system. I am using the stock for barebones test only).

The only life I have had is the PSU fan spinning and the connected molex fan spinning after a paperclip test on the PSU.

Nothing at all - other than the led strip down the left side. No fans spin (not even psu/cpu)

Update (fixed): RMA'd the board, exchanged it for an MSI GD65, system built and fully working fine. Thank you to those who contributed and i hope this thread helps someone with a similar problem.
