Recommended cooling for i5 2500k?

Hi there, I was wondering if i could have some help choosing a CPU cooler for my i5 2500K? Been meaning to get a replacement for the stock fan for ages but now that we're having a heatwave in the UK, my poor CPU is running in excess of 75 whilst gaming (not overclocked either). Wouldnt mind getting a fan that can deal with overclocking if the upgrade price is negligible as its something ill do when the CPU begins to slow for my needs, but right now I just want something that'll lower temps as much as possible.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO seems to be the consensus from a quick google, and its cheap at £24.99 from Amazon, but i just wanted to check that there isnt something a bit better for ~ £10 more.

EDIT: oo forgot to mention, i've got a CM690II case, dont think space will be an issue with it, but just in case you need to know.

In the UK too! Heat is making everything 10x hotter!

I would definitely recommend the Hyper 212 Evo. In my opinion it's the best you can get for the price. You could even overclock the 2500k a little with that cooler (even in this heat!!!) as it's a great overclocking chip! Best of luck! :)

Haha its ridiculous isn't it?! Heard the M25 was *melting* a couple days ago (probably still is!) Nuts considering how cold it was couple months back!

Your case has 177mm of clearance for the cooler and the 212 Evo is around 160mm, so you definitely have room for the cooler.

And yeah, it's crazy! Spent two hours in it and I've got the worst sunburn I've ever had. Can't wait for this weather to be over tbh aha!

Just ordered the Hyper 212 Evo from Amazon along with some artic silver and isoprophyl alcohol. Looking forward to not checking temps every 5 mins whilst playing Civ V. Thanks a lot for the help peeps!

No worries! :) I wouldn't have bothered with the Arctic Silver, as the thermal compound that comes with the Hyper 212 Evo is perfectly adequate. But each to their own, good luck :)
