Hello,

I've just finished designing my build, but trying to decide on a decent graphics card but low priced..
Ive heard the Xonar Series is good?

(I thought about the ASUS Xonar DX.. but the specifications on the ASUS website says its compatible with Windows Vista and XP... but im using Windows 7 64-bit...)

Ill mainly be using this card for Music and Movies... but I will be doing abit of gaming...

Any recommendations? My budget is £60 ($90) I can go slightly higher but as my current design is £1,340 ($2,050) I don't really want to get too much higher.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

No actually I didn't. Instead I've quoted you in a way, in my post.

Well anyway it doesn't matter now. I've already ordered the DX.

Thanks very much once again.
I have a Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro. It's a bit of an old card (2008) but supports Windows 7 and Windows 8 quite nicely. There are only a select few cards out there that are better for gaming and entertainment, namely the Creative Labs ZxR; I recommend avoiding the Recon3D lineup.

What do you think of the Creative Sound Blaster Z? (116dB SNR)

I've heard that the ZxR is all around a better card and that the Z and Zx don't really hold up to the older Titaniums.

Hi,

It's really good that I found this post at the right time. I need to decide if I should really get the DX. But not sure if it will be fully compatible with windows 7 (x64 ultimate).

And although you recommend not to go with Recon 3D in favor of DX in terms of sound quality and overall features, what do you think of their comparison in a different scenario, as below?
1.Xonar DX with external headphone amp OR
2. Recon 3D with built-in amp

Thanks very much.

Hi,

I think that you may have misread my post. I recommended avoiding the Recon 3D lineup. If you want a Creative Labs card, go with either the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro (tried and tested) or the new Z / ZxR cards. The Recon 3D cards are lacking from what I've heard.
