For my (Gaming) build I'm stuck on which will give me better performance.

Intel Core I5-3570 Processor 3.40GHZ,

and Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H

or

AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor

and

ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Any help, benchmarks etc would be great.

the problem with AMD is that the motherboards are very old and dont even support PCI express 3.0 yet.

avoid AMD ... at all costs.

and think of HAswell and Z87 motherboard.

intel will have a SLIGHT edge in a lot of games, but newer games have better threading, so some perform better on amd, but as with the new xbox and ps games start to get ported, i would say amd would be better, seeing as the hardware is so very similar on the new consoles to the 8350.
tek syndicate did some benches here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4et7kDGSRfc
so id say get amd loose a few fps on current games, in exchange for better threaded performance, (video editing photoshop folding at home etc) and be ready for the next gen console ports wich will fly on your new rig, all while having an extra few quid in your pocket

there is no performance benifit too pci 3 as stated on this site, the bandwidth of 2 is still sufficient

hmm , how did they do it with the same chipset? I dont get it.

edit : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

that motherboard with PCIe3.0 is $200 , no thank you , If I wanted to pay $200 Intel is the better choice , they offer PCIe 3.0 on a $80 z87 mobo and the 120 I put on cpu and get i5 4670k

Make sure if want i5, get a i5-3570K version to squeeze out the performance by OC. (U may need a new CPU cooler too)

what application are you wanting pci 3 for? it is not needed as yet, as the bandwidth of 2 has yet to be surpassed, there is an article on here all about it. its a feature that as yet has no application, or is that the 1 thing amd doesnt have so your just picking at it?
as for 200 odd for mo bo, yes thats expensive, its also the price of a top intel board, but if you get the amd boad without pci 3 you get it for 100, or am i seeing this wrong?

does not matter .. PCIe 3.0 are more than a year old now . and I dont buy old tech.

AMD need to make new chipset they are lazy.

besides , want me to show you how a 200$ HAswell mobo looks like ?

here

give AMD mobo like that I will buy it for 200$

and here see the review

dont want to get into a fan boy flame war, but
my argument is valid. pci 3 has (as yet) no application. it is pointless to have with todays cards, so why would you want it? why would amd pay development to put this useless feature on its boards? what satisfaction do YOU get from having it? or is it as i said before, you have no real understanding of it but intel has it and amd doesnt so intel is better
? sorta like top trumps for fanboys?
with that being said intel do make superior cpus, (this gen) but its like 5% better for 40% more money, and lets be real about it, if i gave you a test on an i5 vs 8350 rig witgh matching graphics cards etc. i KNOW you couldnt tell the differencebetween the two, i know because ive done it, the op asked what to get from a gaming and value standpoint i answerd the questuion as best i could and gave reasoning for the answer, and you, well you are waffling. and i felt the need to pull you on it, so floame away ;)

I have a Raid PCIe 3.0 8x card in my system , and it reaches 8GB/s , and my Raid reaches around 5G/s on it which wont do if the slot is not PCIe 2.0 8x maxed at 4GB /s

Also PCIe 3.0 4x RAID CARDS exist which reaches 4G/s on PCIe 3.0 4x and only 2G/s on 4x pcie 2.0

and in the near future you will fins PCI 1x 3.0 ALOT for LAN cards , and SATA 4 cards when they arrive for 1G/s bandwidth using 1 pcie x 3.0 instead of just 512MB/s which is the Sata 3 ,

and dont call me fanboy again ..

next?

ok look, this thread was about a kid asking wether amd or intel was a better bet for a gaming rig cheapish and you say dont buy amd ever they going out of buisiness in loads of trouble because it has 1 feature that allows a fast raid config?
this may be wrong but if you had amd youd get 6gbps from sata? as opposed to 3gbps for intel. i dont use raid so cant comment. i have no knowledge so withdraw ^^
didnt call you a fanboy, i implied it, subtle see?
but read back the thread see what it looks like?
but out of interest if i did what would you do?

nar im f@@kin with you,
op sorry for this but well^^ you see......

have you compared the specs on the sniper M5 with the stupid 200$ AMD motherboard , or you just want to talk in the air?

Killer LAN , SioundBlaster 3D chip , 115 db SNR , 600ohm Amp , removable sound chips for music , and 100% 10/10 review , 6 Sata 3 that outperforms AMD one , and extra pair of usb3 .. and PCIe 3.0 native

all this VS your 200$ saberooth AMD which has NOTHING of the above

please stop trolling and go eat some spinach

your so far from the point of this thread its not even funny,
we are talking about best bang for buck gaming and your talking raid and ohm's to try and make the argument that amd should be avoided at all costs.
i pointed out that the statement you made was untrue, wich it was. then you basically started screaming about irrelevancies, some of your argument would make sense in a nas or sever for wich a fast raid may be important, but it is not on a gamer.....do you see where im going? if you had come with i5 is better because this bench and that bench, i wouldn't of replied, but you started with a falsehood, i pointed it out and you have strayed further and further from the point getting progressively more narky as i picked holes in your reasoning
how is sata 3 faster than 6? and how is a 200£ mo bo applicable to this discussion? (and the one i showed you was less than 150, i didnt claim it was better it just thats the dearest i could find, but so what nothing to do with the op.
but anyway im off to bed with the wife shortly after family guy and american dad so im off to get ready for that,
and you can see if your i5 will let you get a dusty finger or whatever it is that makes you go on like ^^
a respectful goodnight to my arch enemy sna3
