hello everyone , so its the first time when i want to overclock the CPU.
the computer specs is :
Intel I7 920 Stock Speed with Noctua NH-D14
Asus P6T matherbored
3x2GB Corsair XMS3 Triple Channel 1333MHZ DDR3
Corsair Gs800 Power supply
SLI Asus GTX660 OC .
so this is the specs of the pc .
i want to get 3.5-3.6 Ghz from the Stock speed .
its possible ? i don't want pc crashes . i just want stability work .
Can you help and guild me how to do that
Thanks

To overclock, you need to increase the turbo multiplier to 21 and then increase the bus (BCLK) speed to around 175, and adjust the voltage accordingly along with other settings. If you have the D0 stepping you can reach even higher and be stable, but with more voltage in some cases IIRC. Open up CPU-Z to check your stepping. My 920 is a C0@3.7GHz, so I cannot give you voltage advice for a D0 chip should you have one. Also, what type of P6T do you have?

This is my P6T its the regular one not deluxe and not se .

i dont know what is D0 Stepping . and i dont know what is D0 chip .

this is mine Cpu-z and the cpu is under power saving so this is the rates .
so what to do now ?

The D0 stepping is an improved i7 stepping\batch that overclocks better.

Luckily, you have a D0, follow the guide to overclock to 4GHz (With that cooler. it will be stable, trust me)

The problem is that . i am from israel so its very hot here . my idle temp with this cooler is realy high 40c .i dont want to overclock to 4.
i want little boost to 3.5-3.6
Don't worry, the NH-D14 is designed to work under such hot conditions. 4GHz is plenty reachable, even if you have a 5C hotter than usual temperature for the 920. I am able to get to 3.67 with a bad cooler and on quite a hot day @94F outside. If you want to make the best out of your GTX 660s in SLI I highly suggest you overclock to 4GHz. A 4GHz overclock will really help you.

sorry for the double massage , but this guild is to big and hard for some one who dont know how to overclock and dont have perfect English ..maybe you have another guilds without too much reading and words , just simple steps .?
Thanks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPyHVGmyjQo This will give you a step by step video. You will likely have a different RAM speed. Leave all the IOH DRAM and PCIE voltages at auto. You can keep the full screen logo

Ok thanks , last question before i will try to make this sick overclock. i don't want to cook mine cpu . so how much temperature will go up ? if idle stuck is 40c .
i am really don't want to burn up the cpu at the first sec of this overclock . very afraid about that
The CPU will not cook unless you add far too much voltage (1.6+, you are going for 1.225) and will shut down at 100C before it can be damaged whatsoever. Remember not to mess with these settings that he messed around with (see below0, leave them at auto. Follow along with the video with another device to ensure you do not mess up.
Leave these to auto that he messed around with. Remember to set the RAM to close as its regular 1333Mhz frequency instead of 1531.
IOH Voltage
IOH PCIE Voltage
ICH Voltage
ICH PCIE Voltage
DRAM Bus Voltage

so after quick test , i tryed to set it 21x170 , and after reboot . overclock failed . pc dont start . .. so what to do right now ? set the cpu BCLK to smallest one ?
i keep all the voltage at auto , maybe this is the problem ? what you think try make it 1.225v ?
Thanks
Follow the 4GHz guide I linked, but remember not to edit the settings linked in my earlier post and make sure your RAM is close to 1333 instead on 1531. Do not worry about temperature@4GHz, it is only slightly more and your monster of a cooler NH-D14 will take care of it.

Overclocking Failed! .. cant start the pc . followed all the setting like the video ..
so what is the problem ? ... maybe its becuse he uses another matherbored ?
Thanks
Reset all the settings and retry. Try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage...
But use 1.25V for the vCore.

i have now good setup with 3.6Ghz worked at 1st start .i will keep it 2-3days , then i will use the same but get it up to 4Ghz .
So Thanks you for the help !!
You used the second video guide but changed the BCLK to 170ish? Run Prime 95 and validate it with CPU-Z. Don't forget to select a best answer

realy simple only BCLK and manual Voltage
and this is the CPU-Z Picture

What Prime95 will give me ? and i have to run it ?

Prime 95 is a stability test for your CPU, run it on all of your cores for a few hours and monitor the temperature with RealTemp, it should not exceed 80C. You can now just bump up the CPU multiplier\ratio setting to 21x for stability @4GHz and then bump up the BCLK Frequency to 191 and the CPU vCore\voltage to 1.25 instead of 1.24 for good measure and thus achieve 4GHz. It would be a good idea now to bumb up to 4GHz with the steps shown above. While bumping it up to 4GHz before testing it in Prime95 follow this part of my first video linked to disable C1E and other stability causing problems https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage.... Do not disable Virtualization Tech if you are running Virtual machines on your PC.

It would be better to simply make the Vcore 1.25, change the Ratio to 21, change the BCLK to 191 and disable the stability-issue causing features in a video I linked.
