Hey guys, so I had originally planned to get the core i5 4430 for about $190. My neighbor who has worked with computers all his life mentioned that it didnt have hyperthreading. Is this a concern? Will this CPU be powerful enough for games or should I spend a little more and get the 3570k? The GPU I'm using is an asus geforce gtx 660, let me know what you guys think. Feel free to suggest other CPUs but keep I intel and keep it within the price of the 2 I listed

Neither of those have hyperthreading, you would need a 300$ plus CPU for that. But Hyperthreading has never helped gaming much, so we suggest I5s anyway.

If you do not overclock and you want the extra USB3 ports(2+ more depending on the mobo) and extra SATA 6Gbps(2+ mroe depending on the board) then stick to the 4430.

If you howerver do want to oveclock, get the 3570K. It can be OCd quite a bit with a Z77 chipset, enough for a lot more futureproofing.

So the 4430 will be good for gaming at good graphics? And thanks for the information

NOTE: Price wise the i5-4670 is the same as the i5-3570

If you want to try Overclocking the i5-3570 is is a given. Mild overclock is quite easy - But also jacks up the price of MB (not only in ability to Overclock, but requires a higher quality fo stability)

Not interested in Overclocking, I'd tend to go with the 4430 or Myself I'd pick the 4670 - same price , same real life performance.
.. CPU speed 3.4 (IB) vs 3.0 For the 4430. However this is offset somewhat as the 4430 is 5->10% faster at the Same Speed. HOWEVER the 3570 does HAVE turbo that for a SINGLE threaded (core) app it can jump the single core up to 3.8 GHz
iGPU of 4670 is better (HD4600 vs HD4400 for i5-3570k
.. .. Features (MB) favor the 4430
.. .. Increased Sata III ports But less Sata II ports
.. .. Increased USB3 ports
.. .. UNK:
(A) Improved HD contoller chip (Only effects SSDs) and in real life Probably NO performance gain
(B) Has a diff sound and Lan chip - No improvement on Lan as that is pretty much a function of your Internet provider. Sound - do not kow if it is a improvement.

One other added feature of the Haswell chip set is HDMI In. HOWEVER MB may not impliment this, and probably only significant if you would want to use the computer as a DVR - Myself would use this to tie my external DVD - DVR (with cable input) into computer so BIG PLUS for Me POSSIBLY as have not fully check this out.
