My router is based down the hallway in the living room.

My pc can get up to 2mb/s actual download speed but the problem is, that's rare. My signal and speed bounces up and down, up and down all day long.

Sometimes it's fast and can stay stable, most time it just sucks and can't play a game + have teamspeak open.

On the other hand my girlfriends laptop was getting high speed in the same room my pc is located, and her xbox also has a stable connection.

Got any ideas?

At the moment, cable is not an option.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Ok so i bought a 30m adsl cable and wired it through to my bedroom so now the router is 1 foot away from the desktop and it is stable and high speed.

New problem, for some reason it will randomly just lose all internet, if i disable my wireless lan card and re enable it, it works again. I've made it search for drivers but it says it's up to date

Wireless networks are NOT all they are hyped to be. You say your router is now 1 foot away from your desktop. If you are still using the wireless connection for the desktop disable it and use a wire. My streaming problems all disappeared when I ran a wire into my bedroom where all my media devices are located. Stationary devices should be wired. Wireless is for portable devices. Sorry if you don't like that answer but don't kill the messenger.
