Hi guys, i already have 1gig asus gtx 650 ti direct cu ll on pcie3 slot in my mobo, my cpu is intel i7 3770(non k). And im planning to add another gpu, should i buy another gtx 650ti or can i put a higher/new gtx model, it will be compatible my old gpu ?

Solution

You can put a second 650ti on the x4 slot, but you are better off with 1 GPU cuz x4 is a huge impact on utilization. If it were a x8 slot then you'd be ok, but it isn't.

If you are asking if you can put the 650ti in the x4 and buy a different GPU, ex. 760, and put the new one in the 3.0 slot then it wouldn't work. It would but not SLI.

You can SLI you 650 ti but I wouldn't reccomended cause the second PCI-e x16 slot is @x4 so you're second one would be bottlenecked so just by a super good card and set him in the first x16 slot.

Is there a way that i can still use my old gpu on my mobo even if i buy a new gpu? Cause i still want to use it, 650ti is still kinda good gpu for me so i still wanna use it.

Yes, 650ti does not support SLI, the 650ti Boost does. On this old post I recommended OP to stick with 1 GPU and not try for SLI.
