I have windows 7 and just installed a crucial m500 SSD (960 GB). I currently have an HDD 750GB installed with the windows 7 and about 400GB worth of data. I wanted to copy this entire HDD onto my SSD and use my SSD as the primary boot as well as having all of my files transfered to it. I never tried to do any kind of transfer between drives and I am lost. My new SSD appears in BIOS, but I don't see it anywhere once windows starts. How can I get this started?

See if crucial offers a free cloning utility. Intel and Samsung do. Otherwise buy a copy of acronis true image, and use the clone utility that is included.
There are some other free cloning utilities around, but I have no experience with them.

Just clone your hard drive to the new ssd.

To see the ssd or any new drive in windows, you need to make it available.
Co to control panel/administrative tools/computer management/storage/disk management
There you should see the ssd and be able to format it, or whatever.

I was playing around there actually, in computer management. I couldn't figure out how to do it and accidently clicked on "disable" and now I don't see the ssd there at all even after I disconnect/reconnect the device. I created more problems trying to fix it on my own.
