Could my power BAR be dying?

Hey guys.

So I recently built a new PC (and by recently I mean I've had the PC for upwards of 7-8 months now). I purchased all the parts off of Newegg and had them shipped and put them together myself. The parts are;

Phenom II X4 965 BE @ 3.4
Apevia 680 watt power supply
8 Gigs ram @ 1600 stock
Sapphire 7950 3gig boosted
Seagate 1TB HDD 7200 RPM
MSI 970A mobo

Everything has been going well for this time. There was a hitch where the GPU would randomly turn off and I would have to hard reset the computer, but that was because I found out I forgot to plug the 2nd connector into it all the way and it was coming out at random times. After that, its been good up until today.

So I was playing Max Payne 3 and everything was good, the temps were a bit high because I have no AC in my house and my load temps are around 58c-61c. The idle are around 53c. As I was playing, the computer just randomly turned off (or rather just restarted without actually powering down) and it loaded back up fine. I immediately assumed it was because of my CPU overheatting so I turned down the clock to 2.8 ghz and it was working ok for about 30 minutes then it did it again (exact same as last time) but this time, I wasn't in a game I was just on the desktop idling.

I thought it might be the heatsink and I replaced the aftermarket zalman with the stock phenom one and when I got back into windows I saw my temps go down by around 3c and 1c-2c load temps. Pretty good, but loud. Anyways while doing this and watching youtube videos (I think I was idling around 49c at the time) it did it again, but in a different way. The computer stayed on again and I thought it was going to restart but I also noticed now that the monitor shut down briefly (around 1 second) and came back on. When the picture came on the monitor my computer was still on the desktop fine and I could even hear the youtube video playing while the monitor was off. I noticed that my internet connection had cut out and when I looked at the modem, I noticed that it reset and was trying to reconnect. The power bar is a built in one that came with my desk. Its attached to the desk permanently and it currently has 3 things plugged into it; the computer, the monitor and the modem!

My question is, could it be the power BAR? I don't really7 have any other explanation how the modem could just randomly shut down and restart and my monitor turn off for half a second and come back perfectly.

Honestly that is doubtful. Usually they either work or they don't. Although sometimes one or two plugs might become flakey but even then they only act up if you physically move/touch it.

So you say they work or they don't.........but maybe 1 or 2 plugs might be flaky, that makes no sense at all, they all run on the same power, if one has a problem then all of them might and you don't have to touch it, if a wire connection is going bad can get surges at that plug out or others
