So I've been debating this with myself as to get an i5 core or an i7. Currently I have a radeon 7950 vapor-x and I know I will be upgrading from it.

Currently the i5 3570k seems to be like a perfect match for this card but in the future I will be making upgrades so should I get and i7 core for my video card so I can upgrade to a better video card in the future? And if so which i7 cores do you recommend?

The i5 can handle any GPU set up you can think of, and you'll see no performance gain when spending the extra on the i7. I would stick with the i5 3570k or 4670k and spend the money you saved on the GPU or maybe a different upgrade.

Oh thank goodness, thank you. It's just these days I see people running games oh high setting with i7's and it started getting into my head that I would need a better processor than this one in order to achieve the intense graphics. Thanks, you just saved me about $100 from a pointless upgrade.

No worries! :)  People with high-end setups are also often people who want to do other things with their PC too, and i7s only come into play when you want to do things like video rendering, where the hyperthreading of the i7 comes in useful.

Spend the money on another 7950 then you will see some performance improvements.
