Hello, I am interested in finding a decent motherboard for my build. I recently discovered I can upgrade my mobo without having to purchase a new copy of Windows 8 OEM, (something I have been assuming for some time) so I am seriously shopping to overhaul my build.

I am interested in overclocking my CPU. I had planned on purchasing an i5 3570k with the board though I could be convinced to go with a newer Haswell board with the 1150 chipset. Given that the i5 3750k is going for $220.00, and the 4760k is only $5 more at $225.00 I don't really see anything stopping me. Since I am upgrading, I may as well future proof, but I am interested in hearing peoples suggestions before I move forward.

I was running Radeon when I bought the board and have since switched to Nvidia, thus warranting the update. The build you see below is/was my first custom build so I am still kinda a n00b to this stuff.

Also please keep in mind that I am looking to upgrade my case and will be open to moving up to a full-tower, but would prefer to stick in the mid-tower range.

Here is my current build:
NZXT Source 210
ASRock z75 Pro3 Motherboard
XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750
i5 2320 @ 3.0Ghz
8GB Corsair Vengeance
EVGA 660 ti FTW Signature 2
(1)OCZ Vertex 4 120GB SSD
(2)500GB WD Black RAID

Thanks in advance, and cheers!

your best choice is this mobo

and new egg are giving 30$ discount if you buy it with the i5 4670k

if you are planing on changing the GPU , get no lower than GTX770 or GTX 770.

and for SSD get the Samsung 840 pro 128G or 256G and be sure it is the Pro.

this is my best advice to you

and take a good look at the wonderfull sniper motherboard !!!!

Agreed, and also keep in mind that there is an edit button, you don't have to triple-post and clutter up my thread.

@sna3 thanks for that great suggestion. That does look like a killer combo.

I am hesitant to go all-out for a 770 quite yet considering I just got my 660ti precisely 1 month before the 7xx series was announced (THE RAGE) on sale for $260.00, and benchmarks show 660ti's in SLI can perform at about 1.5 times a 680 and 1.3 times a 780 for about the same price as 1 of those options. So dollar for dollar it makes sense to go SLI on my 660ti until I NEED to upgrade in a couple of years. And with the 7xx line out, the prices on my 660ti will keep dropping.

I dont recommend going for 660 ti in SLI at all , when the GTX 760 is selling at $250 only !!! if you have to do it , sell your 660Ti and get 2x 760 in SLI .

have you seen the reviews of GTX 760 ?? I was surprise at the $250 price !!! and the moved the mid range card to 256 bits !!!

I would sell old hardware and go for either GTX770 or 2x Gtx 760 ...

have a nice day :)

Curse you and your logic! :)

My brain loves you and my wallet hates you. I will probably wind up upgrading after I go through the Mobo & CPU upgrade. Perhaps wait a paycheck or 2.

I have been wanting to try gaming across my 3 27" monitors, and it would probably take at least 770s in SLI to give me the performance I am desiring. That is awesome to hear about the 256 mem upgrade on the 760s too. Thanks for the tips guys!
