i wanna buy a new PC.. but i am really confused between i5 3570K and AMD FX 8350.. i have seen alot of benchmarks video and stuff like that..but still i am confused ..some say i5 is better but 8350 will be good for future use?? which 1 should i buy..? i will be using my pc mainly for gaming.. and GPU is Radeon 7850.

Solution
Disregard the above advice about the 8350 having "too many cores" Crysis 3 runs 9 threads...games will use the cores. As a game developer, I can tell you that the 8350 will not be an issue for games. If you can swing it, I would recommend going to a HD 7870XT GPU over the HD 7850...if it's too much money...then make sure you get a good 2 GB 7850 that's been factory overclocked from someone like Gigabyte, Asus, MSI or Sapphire.

If your budget is good. Go for 3570K. And if u'r in tight budget. Go FX-6300 instead, but better get a good CPU cooler to OC your CPU. FX-8350 simply has too many cores and gaming won't use that much.(And also increase the heat which make OC a little bit difficult)

GPU should be good though.

It all depends on the game. The i5 usually gets better scores on benchmarks but most games are gpu dependent anyway. Go with what's on sale and spend the difference on a gpu.

just 1 more question... i was wondering i5 is clocked at 3.4 GHZ with 4 cores and AMD is clocked at 4 GHZ with 8 cores. so this should make a major diff. and AMD should nail INTEl.. why is intel i5 3570k better then FX 8350 in some aspects?? please explain..

Simply intel has more single-core and freq efficiency than AMD did. U could see analysis/reviews on single-core performance comparison between FX and i3/i5.

But AMD's most advantage is price. A FX-6300 six-core is even cheaper than i3 dual-core CPU....

The frequency difference between intel and AMD chips don't really mean anything because they are designed differently. AMD 8 core can outperform a 4 core intel only if the program you are using takes full advantage of those cores. Also the 4 cores on the intel can perform their operations quicker than AMDs cores can. Games don't take full advantage of multi core processors so if you have quicker single cores the games perform better, and that is why the i5 gets suggested for gaming.

I think one reason this thread did not inadvertently deteriorate into a typical AMD vs. Intel flamefest is that people have come to realize that, regardless of specific benchmarks, most of the time, for most purposes, either of these CPUs can be the heart of a very competent machine. You're not going to lose, in any meaningful way, no matter which one you pick.
