Can i put my old HardDrive into my new computer

Im about to buy a new computer( with a new harddrive), but can i put my old windows xp harddrive and the new harddrive in the pc? Will putting the windows xp harddrive make the pc a windows xp when i boot it? Or should i install windows 7 with my new harddrive then plug the old harddrive in?

In stall the new OS on the new HD .... run all the windows updates ...... then plug ya old HD in and delete root files and Windows folder

You can pu it in but you're not going to be able to boot to it. Since you are getting a new drive install 7 on the new drive then add the old one as a second drive.

Install Windows 7 on the new hard drive before you install the old XP drive. I would probably move any needed data from the XP drive to the Windows 7 system and format the XP drive prior to installing it into the Windows 7 system.
