So im trying to get my hd 6850 to work. I have uninstalled nvidia drivers for my old gt 430 and now im only able to get picture through my mobo vga. How do i get picture to come through the hdmi port on my gpu? Ive run the driver disc.
Check That your mb bios is up to date. In the bios set primary display to pci or peg and turn off muilt monitor support to turn off onboard video.
So after a long day of trying to diagnose the faulty component it turns out it was a faulty dvi cable. I discovered this when i took it in to a computer store and everything worked fine. Now im home again and thought i could just use the hdmi (which is what i prefer to use my tv as monitor) and now i cant get a picture because it seems that the card will always start on dvi by default. I dont want to buy a new dvi cable so how can i get my computer started. It just wont choose hdmi even when that is the only cable connected to the card.

Ive done all that and still nothing. I think it was my dvi lead is faulty, is there any way to get the card to display tthrough hdmi on start up? It just wont display anything with hdmi.
turnns out the issue is more complicated than it seemed. it only by chance worked at the pc store and my dvi cable is fine. got the computer going at home now and as long as i dont turn it off it works fine. its very strange though
