I'm annoyed and at a loss of what to do. Lately my PC has been crashing / BSODs. List is what has happened ;

1) 4 weeks ago, watched a youtube video, PC froze and I had to reboot.

2) Installed motioninjoy for ps3 controller, BSOD dealing with it's drivers. All fixed and working now.

3)Battlefield 2 crashes PC randomly, screen freezes, I need to reboot.

Due to 3, I thought I'd try updating my graphics cards.

4) BSOD during graphic card updates.
Tried uninstalling; reinstalling old drivers, still crashing.

Whocrashed is saying 'ntoskrnl.exe' & 'atikmpag.sys' is crashing during the driver updates.

I'm at a loss of what to do. How can I fix the graphics driver problem? This happened to me a year ago when I first got my card but it somehow went away. This is extremely aggravating seeing as all I use my computer for is to play games.

Is there a reason you do not do a clean install as there is obvious corruption?

Clean install of what, the graphics driver? I have. Windows? I'm pretty sure I did a clean install when this first started happening last year. Now, on the other hand, I'm lazy. I want that to be my last resort. I don't have anything to back up my data on at the moment. If all fails, yes, I will try another clean install. But only if there is nothing left.

As for an 'obvious corruption', is that really true? Last year this problem ended up fixing itself somehow, so I don't see why it would be a complete corruption..

I can't tell if it is my graphics card or not. This happened right from the start when I got it. Literally bought it; installed it; a heap ton of artifacts / BSODs which cleared up over time. Now I'm back at square one.

I hear ya', I am just not a fan of repairing a leaking ship if I could get the hull redone for a small headache.

@Zombiekiller . Yeap. :( If it does turn out to be the card itself, I'm going to be waiting awhile to get a new one. I'm still a young teenager so this is actually making me quite sad.

Does it happen in safe mode? Can you stress test it and see if there is a trigger load/temp?

While in safe mode; what exactly should I do. Try installing the graphics drivers? (I'm confused, sorry, lol.)

I'm doomed. I tried uninstalling the drivers via installers then used driver sweeper and got rid of the Ati drivers. Now when I start up I get a blue screen and it restarts. A.K.A I'm stuck in a loop.

What do I do? Reformat? How would I be able to transfer all my data first if this isn't working?

Can you boot into safe mode?

I'm not sure. I have a trip to go on but will try when I'm back in a few days. I read something about going to recovery console and copying Atipiec.sys (I think) from a usb to the drivers folder. Not exactly sure about the commands to do that.

Anyways, if I can go into safe mode, then what?

Then install the proper drivers and see if you can find the BSOD log.

I thought you can't install drivers in safe mode? At least I can't with AMD s installer. I have whocrashed so I'll check what's causing the problem and get back to you tomorrow. Sorry for asking such dumb questions lol.
