I built a gaming computer with a a6 richland apu and asrock pro 4 motherboard not overclocked. It overheats and reboots after bout 5 minutes. Package temp gets up to 65c. Have cheap aftermarket heatsink. Most people though say they that they run fine with stock heatsink. Jus ordered a coolermaster hyper x. Is something wrong with my apu. I can't even run minecraft for 5 minutes without it crashing and rebooting probably due to overheating

Solution
Yes a hyper 212 evo would be adequite really good cooler

And apu have a graphics procesor inbuilt so it doubles the heat output ant the thermaltke cannot dissipate that heat thats y ur system is crashing

I put the stock heatsink back on and it runs at about 46c idle, but when I run anything it goes up to around 65c again. Do you think that the coolermaster hyper 212 evo that I ordered would help?

Nevermind, all the overheating. Was running at 48c and computer rebooted. Is it because I have windows 8 only 2gb of ram? It never did this when I was running Windows Vista. I just realized that it only started doing this when I installed the graphics drivers for the apu. I only had apu for 2 weeks so it shouldn't be going bad.

Just uninstalled the graphics drivers and it seemed to stop the overheating with stock heatsink. Is something wrong with the gpu portion of my apu? Also since mine is a 6400k should I underclock it to stop the heating? Right now I have multiplier at 34

installed the heatsink using the dot method and I'm getting temps for the cpu package with hw monitor around 60c-65c. Although speedfan and asrocks monitoring software read 32C for the cpu and the motherboard at 28 c. Witch one should I trust. It hasn't crashed at all though since I got the heatsink. Also whats the difference between the cpu and the cpu package? Is the cpu package showing high readings because of the apu's gpu and should I be concerned about it?

The bios reads around 33c when I enter it. Should I be concerned just because hw monitor reads temps at 65c. Is that just a mathmatical calculation or not. Asrocks motherboard overclocking tool also reads around 32c. Should I be worried about damaging my apu or not. Rkallby.

Do Temps for the cpu normally spike 20c when you click on stuff or should the temps remain steady also? Rkallby. I have a coolermaster hyperevo 212 and dual fans. Also the heatpipes are cool to the touch and if I play minecraft for like an hour there only warm.

Running back at stock 3.9 ghz and coretemp and speccy and hw monitor read 68c for the core temps playing minecraft. Is something wrong with cpu because I have a coolermaster hyper212 plus installed and positive thermal paste is applied correctly.
