Laptop Graphics Doubt: Radeon 7670m vs 8570m

Hi,

I'm planning on purchasing a new laptop soon, and I would like to know which of the 2 GPU's above would be the most powerful.

If someone had benchmarks comparing the two in a few games, that'd be great.

Also, both laptops run AMD trinity/richland APU's, but I'm planning on running games using discrete graphics only.

All I could manage to find myself was this; the 7670m is an older 40nm part, but with 480 VLIW cores, whereas, the 8570m has only 384 cores, but is based on the newer, more powerful and efficient 28nm GCN core.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I merely skimmed them but it seems the 7670M is far more powerful.

Thanks, but I was hoping for some more real benchmarks in real games. I do understand the 7670m is better, but I want to know by what margin. Also, it should consume significantly more power than the newer 8570m. If the difference in gaming performance isn't all that great, then I could survive with the 8570m.

I got one with an 8670m. This is slightly faster than the HD7670M/Geforce 630M or 720M. Also, being a GCN based card, it will support the Mantle API, as well as DirectX 12 API when released.

I have an A10-5750M as the CPU part, so that seems to be holding me more back than the GPU. Dual graphics is bullshit and doesn't work, although you can switch to the integrated GPU when not gaming to save battery power.

Crysis 3 - 20-24fps, medium settings, can play with no issues

TC HAWX 2 - 65fps tesselation OFF, 42fps tesselation ON, both on completely maxed out settings

NFS MW2 - 30fps, but not playable at all. Plus the game doesn't seem to have an AA settings, so its totally crap.

Overall very satisfied with the laptop for the price I paid. HP 15-e001AX

Mine is Lenovo Essential 59-380146. And, are 8670m and 8570m any different? Because the other day, I was surfing the forums and found that they indeed give the same results.

And, about the integrated GPU (8650g), does it not do well with crossfire?
I really need this laptop because it's a bang for the buck. But, I am getting negative responses about the 8570m EVERYWHERE! And also the CPU A10 5750m.

So, it's not worth it?

Yes, they are different!! Do not believe synthetic benchmarks, because 90% of the time, they are nonsense.

The 8670M's are physically the same chip as the slower 8570M, but they are the higher binned parts, and they are clocked significantly higher. Expect the 8670M to be between 15-20% faster than the 8570M.

The 8670M GPU is a very good one at this price point, no issues with it at all.

The A10 CPU is a bit slower, so it would be better if you can find a laptop with the same GFX chip, but with an i5. Ofcouse, these will be a bit costlier too.

FYI, just search for "8670M gameplay" on YouTube. You can find out what games and settings are playable, and what are not.
