1600mhz CL9 is the standard for gaming for 2-3 years now, still doesn't change as we don't even need that much speed...

No, you don't need "gaming" RAM. Manufacturers just label it that way as a marketing ploy.

Maybe someone has missled him and was refering to the ram on the video card which is more commonly called VRAM. I could see how someone would want to call it gaming ram.

Many manufacturers like to throw 'gaming' into their advertising to get the attention of gamers, and sadly most of the time it's not even actually what many consider performance DRAM, which usually is DRAM with a tighter CL than the norm....You can game with any DRAM, though if you want performacne out of your DRAM, look for a tight CL i.e. for 1600 look for CL7 or CL8, 1866 look for CL8, 2133- CL9...........
