I found some HDMI cables that the shaw cable guy left over, and on it it says something about HDMI with Ethernet... where would the ethernet come from? lol... if anyone knows anything about it please comment below, i am curious! :)

Ethernet can be carried on a HDMI cable as long as both pieces of hardware support it. So for instance going from your cable box to say a TV with internet support. If the cable box and TV supported Ethernet over HDMI you would only need the one HDMI cable from the box to the TV. From what I have seen not very many devices even support it.

HDMI has support alot of devices with the single HDMI connection. For example by having my PS3 Blu-Ray Player Sound System and HDTV all connected though HDMI I can control any of them with just my TV Remote. Volume changing channels navigating the PS3 or Blu-Ray player every major function is controlled right from my TV remote. If I change the volume then my Sound System changes the volume up or down if I change channels them my cable box moves the channel up or down things like that. When setup correctly with devices that support it it is really nice not having several remotes or having to buy a universal remote and then setting it up for each component. Ethernet over HDMI is the same but I have not had anything that supports it as of now.
