Hi,

I've just set-up my new build pc, specs:

Intel Core i5-3330,
Asus P8H77-M LE,
2x2GB Corsair (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9),
Corsair CX430M PSU.

Currently I am trying to boot without HDD or GPU so won't bother to list those yet.

Anyway, the problem I am having is that everytime I try to add the second stick of ram, the PC just will not boot. The red memory LED lights continuously and the MemOK function does nothing to help.

I have changed the RAM sticks around and they both work fine in the first slot, but adding a second stick kills it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's causing it, is the RAM slot dead?

Thanks,
Steve

If The bios is 1201 it the newest one. If it not the bios code bug. Check under the CPU for bent pin. New systems the memory controller is inside the CPU now. One thing to try or check is is the ram 1.5 volts or 1.6v kit.
Intel CPU now look for 1.5v if it a 1.6v kit you may have to bump the dram voltage.

Haha, hello future Steve (greatest name in the world!), although if my luck with computers continues as is; I may just shoot myself before I hit 40. :pt1cable:

I have just checked the bios code and it is apparently the latest one.

Yep it's 1201. I'll check for bent pins now, I did buy it from a guy that said it was ex-display and hadn't been used, although there was no socket cover on it. In the' excitement' I didn't really check it over...

I'm pretty sure the ram kit is 1.65v, I tried bumping it to 1.75 and had no luck, not sure if it's ok to keep going?

Thanks for your help so far!

UPDATE: Ok, wow I can't believe I didn't see this! :pfff:

Damn, I hope not. Would there be any cosmetic sign of damage? The CPU came from Amazon, so shouldn't be too hard to return. Would it be worth testing on a new Mobo first?
