well i am trying to record league of legends at 60 fps from only a HDD (my os is on it and everything like that) but i keep getting hiccups into the system, i am recording with FRAPS and know it is very cpu and Hard drive intensive. i will be buying a 128gb SSD but i dont know whether to put my OS on it just not buy it those are my two options

AMD fx4170 4.5 GHZ quad core oc
AMD HD 7770 ghz edtion 1.0ghz oc
8gb ddr3-1333
asus m5a79 r2.0 motherboard
600w psu
1TB 7200rpm WD Hard drive

^---- thats my system do tell me if you think it is strong enough to even record at those rates.... and any improvements i may need to do

i get a constant 35 frame rate while recording on high setting in lol but any time i get hit/use a skillshot or too many particles on the screen then it stutters

the FX8000 did have 8 cores but the cores are paired in module. each module containing two cores sharing some of the resource that available in the module. i'm not really an expert on cpu. if you want better explanation maybe you should open a thread on cpu section asking about FX processor. i bet there must be people with actual experience with FX processor and FRAPS.
when recording with FRAPS strong cpu with more core are needed. as for HDD vs SSD i don't think it will impact performance much when doing recording. you can get 60FPS easily even with HDD given you have stong CPU (i'm basing this from my personal experience when using FRAPS using my overclocked dual E7500 at 3.6Ghz and my 2500K at stock clock). AFAIK online games rely heavily on cpu cores as well if you want high frame rates.

looking your components it should be fine except your cpu maybe. FX4000 advertised as quad core by amd but amd new FX processor are configured a bit differently compared to multi core cpu we used to know. some people assume amd FX4000 as a dual core design because how the processor being configured. amd called is as a module. with FX4000 it has two module with each module containing two core. and the two core inside are sharing their resource instead of having their own like intel multi core cpu or amd previous Phenom II processors. AFAIK if you want to do recording you need at least triple core processor. two for games and anything else and one for FRAPS. so with FX processor you might need at least FX6000 processor which have three module inside.

also you can use MSI After Burner to capture your game. i heard that the performance impact can be less because the built recording feature built in MSI After Burner has more option in regards to recording compared to FRAPS

so your telling me all the bulldozer series cpu's have only half of the ACTUAL cores so a 8000 series would only have 4 cores??? that's stupid in my opinion and are there any amd users that can back Renz496's point since i am getting spikes and that's the only problem with the recording, i really think its my HDD but i will do some more research on my CPU since i only bought it 1 month ago and i am not keen to upgrade immediately
