First build ever.

ballistix 8gb 1600 ram
corsair 500w psu
I put it all together went to start and all I got was one flash on the led. Tinkered/researched and figured it might be psu. went and had it tested, its good. I then realized that I had the psu plugged into sysfan1 cuz i thought the fan needed power. I unplugged that and now when i start it it cycles about 5 second interval of power led ighting and all the fans turning on but still no post/beeps... Did i fry mother board by plugging the psu 4 prong into sysfan1?
any advice?
tried everything in the big guide...
