i want a board that can overclock and the killer nic game card and the lcuid technologie boards that say they cut down on latency are appealing however not intersted in much in a motherboard cheapest one that auto overclocks or helps out in overclocking cause although im ok im no genius or tweaker but would like to push it to the max.

so wich board helps overclocking more geared toward it or whatever asrock misi or asus?

another question about asrock they seem to pack alot of stuff for the price makes me wonder what do they lack but yet they look good.

help me pick a board preferably under 220 asrock asus or msi not sure woich one is easist to overclock or has a reputation for what, i have a soundblaster quad core recon card that should be just as good as any onboard audio so not sure that matters just lattency sli/crossfire and a few usb 3.0ports and raid

Killer NIC? Many like to throw out descriptive words that really mean nothing - it's a 1Gb network adapter, check the other mobos, even lower tier, they all have Gb network adapters, MSI also touts Military grade stuff - but last I looked they aren't an many military contract offerings....all mobo manufacturers talk up features to drag people in...ASRock has XFast LAN, used in on many mobos - no big deal...Lucid is a common feature going back to the Z77 mobos, have it on my Z77 Extreme 4, it's nothing special, I don't even use it, just a good discrete graphics card

now as far as overclocking goes does it really matter about all these advertising theams mosfet , choke, dgi vr or vrm but was wondering if the quality of the board same manafactacture and chip set but one being a higher end one with more functions but would they both have the same OC features and limits

The chip is more important the the motherboards these days. For example, in the HardOP reviews of the Asus Z87-Deluxe and the ASUS Z87-A both resulted in the same stable frequency even though the two boards have a $100 difference in price.

Overall, the extra $$ can be spent on a better cooling solution to obtain higher clock raters so pick the board with the features you are after that is available at the lowest price.

Find the basics you need to fit your needs (CPU supported, DRAM freq supported, how many of each PCI-E, SATA, USB, etc ports/slots do you need, etc)...the OC is pretty much up to the skill of the user or help he/she gets....have seen people try 2/3 mobos and never get over 4.4, give the CPU to another and he might get 4.6, 4.7 right from the get go.....Big thing is stick with a good mobo - stay with Asus, the Rock or GB, most of the others use inferior component, have poor QC and support

i hope im not getting caught up in marketing gimics but the MSI board looks really impressive since it features lucid technologies as well mas the killer NIC card for game latency. nopw i have no idea if these two things help latency at all for MMO's but thats one my primary considerations that and the type off raid a board offersweather it uses generic raid makers or intel raid

I myself won't touch MSI and haven't for a couple years, they have been sliding downhill since about 09/2010, just too many bad experiences as well as those had by clients of mine...poor QC and support. Asus is still the top, but both GB and ASRock have been making gains on them....
