I think my CPU is dying. Random Restarts.

Hello i have problem with my pc, first here are my specs:

Cpu:intel q6600
Ram:4 gb ddr2
Gpu:gtx 650 nvidia
Psu:Corsair tx650
Nothing overclocked.

The problem is that there are random restarts mostly during gaming but they have also happened in windows. Temperatures are in normal range cpu runing 20 mins with prime95 60 °C and gpu almost the same. I have found a way how to cause the restarts running Intel processor diagnostic tool but they are not happening using prime95. Also there is a noise coming from the cpu area, the more the cpu usage the greater the noise im sure its not from the fans. The cpu is the oldest in my system so thats why i think its dying...

Can someone help me? Thanks.

If you have another desktop, switch out the PSUs.
If you run the diagnostic program of small fft without a restart, then the PSU is your problem. If it continues to restart even though you switched out the tx with another known good psu, then the PSU is not the issue.

Same with the motherboard, if you're up to it and have the parts of another desktop, test the cpu in that motherboard.

Or if you have a psu voltage tester / multimeter at hand, you can test the psu that way.

As to the noise, if the temps are not rising/the fans throttling to high rpm I would suggest to make sure no wires are touching the hsf or motherboard. I recently have to fix a few fans connections that were making annoying buzzes because it was lightly...

If I'm correct the small FFT option runs mathematic loads on the cpu and caches - basically just the cpu.
It's been a long time since I've needed to stress for stability so forgive me.

But if it's constantly failing on the small fft, it could definitely be a sign the cpu is failing.

I would first make sure the psu, despite it being an awesome one!, is still in good shape. Most restart/shutdown issues fall upon a failing psu. Good to rule it out and make sure your system is getting the power it needs.
Doesn't hurt to run tests before spending money. :3

I would also check out event viewer for the restarts - see if there's anything in there.

How can i test my psu if its fine? voltages look ok in the BIOS. Also what about the buzzing like noise coming from the cpu area that goes louder the higher the cpu usage is? i am sure its not coming from the fans. There are no bsod or anything on event viewer just: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Thanks.

Unfortunately i dont have a spare psu or motherboard to test so i will send the computer to a techician to test it. Thanks for the help.
