I was wondering which mobo is better for overclocking.

I want to overclock the amd phemon ii x4 965 and in a few year the fx 6300

I was going to oc to 4ghz 4.2 if possible

the only 2 I'm going for is

the asrock 970 extreme3

and

msi 970a-g46

which is better at overclocking the amd phemon ii x4 965 to 4ghz?

Solution
For OC they maybe same because they have the same power design for CPU (4+1 phase).
Asrock: PCI Express 2.0 x16 (x16, x4) for CF, 5X SATAIII ports, 2X USB3.0, RAM DDR3 2100(OC) / 1866(OC) / 1800(OC) / 1600(OC) / 1333 / 1066 / 800.
MSI: PCI Express 2.0 x16 (x16, x8) for CF, 6X SATAIII, 2x USB3.0, RAM DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600/1866/2133* (OC),

And Asrock MB is most popular board for OC, and I read it online they said: Avoid pairing an FX 8-core with the MSI 970A. Also someone say can OC Fx 6300 to 4.4GHz at 1.37v on the Asrock.

Or can you pick up the GA-970A-UD3 ? Because it has the advanced 8+2 phase CPU VRM power design. If you can and just pick GA-970A-UD3, otherwise pick up the Asrock if you don't use CF.

Its not really a clear cut and dry answer.

After I did a lot of research, I found out that MSI Mobo is a little like playing Russian roulette. Sometimes you can get a good board, but overall their quality lacks, especially on their older boards (pre new release boards) But again some people have had a few good MSI boards. Asrock seems to be generally viewed as a better board.

I don't know what Asrock customer service is like, but for the most part MSI has spot on customer service, but does this offset their mobo reputation?

On the OC side of the issue, I believe in the majority of cases, the chip itself will effect OC more than any board will, although some boards may have more features, but even then you can see people with higher OC on lower end boards due to having a good chip.
