I have a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop and one day while in use I encountered a blue screen and the computer proceeded to turn itself off. However, on restart, I received nothing but a black screen after the dell start up logo. Upon calling dell support, I was told it was a problem with the hard drive.
I now have said hard drive and have used a SATA to usb adapter in order to connect it to another computer. I want to recover my data from this hard drive.
When I connect this hard drive to another computer, I am able to see the Recovery portion of the hard drive appear and the appropriate attributes (400 mb capacity.) However, the actual hard drive in question appears as Local Disk L: with capacity 0 bytes / 0 bytes. Checking in Disk Management I see that the drive is in RAW format. This is problematic as when I try to use any type of data recovery program to get my files back, the L drive does not show up as an option to be scanned even though it is connected and shows up in my computer. What can I do?
