I had been playing a high-stress game for much too long, and my computer overheated and shut down. I needed to let it cool down, so I waited at least an hour to start the machine up again. Once I started it up again, on the windows log-in screen I noticed a few white pixels scattered in random locations around the screen, so i logged in and everything went to crap. This is what happens: My keyboard and mouse freeze, and for a few seconds, I can only see my toolbar or a few icons, then the screen would go black, and in the lower right hand corner the message "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered". It would repeat itself, showing parts of the desktop for a few seconds and going black, until it blue screens. So I went into safe mode and driver-swept all my graphics drivers, and went back into normal mode. It works fine, except there is no driver, so I'm stuck at VGA graphics. When I re-downloaded my graphics drivers, and booted back up into normal mode, the screen would go crazy again and eventually blue screen as it did before. I took the card over to my friends house and tried it in their computer, and loaded up the drivers. Same results: craziness and blue screen. Someone smart, please help!

My Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon 6950 HD

Its been a day since this problem actually happened. In the meantime I have cleaned the dust away from as many spots as I can find, and I've reapplied the thermal grease. I'm hoping that its not a hardware issue, but maybe a software issue.
