I'm lucky enough to have a large budget ($5000) for a new PC build, but I haven't made a build in a while and I've fallen out of touch with the latest "best-of-the-best" components. I'm planning on playing mostly at a resolution of 1440p, and I would also like to implement a water cooling loop into the build. I have never actually had the chance to work with anything other than the closed loop coolers such as the Corsair Hydro series, and I know almost nothing about water cooling other than the fact that I want to water cool the GPUs.

Approximate Purchase Date: July-August

Budget Range: $5000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, light video editing/rendering

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: Everything except peripherals

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Tigerdirect

Location: California, USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU, none for GPU

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Yes

Your Monitor Resolution: 2560x1440

Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to give!

the beastliest build i could come up with, still leaves over a grand for ur custom loop (which i'm sorry to say i have no idea about) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1iYtG
u might wanna have a look at the 780s with the reference cooler, although the ACX ones i have selected run cooler and quieter, the reference ones will have better aesthetics with the black-green theme i've gone with

Spend 4k and save the rest for upgrades or buy some litecoins :) the loop should cost around $500 and don't spend 500 bucks on memory. That's crazy for a tiny performance difference.

Infact the card just became official and is not being discontinued. Please give proof about issues and how "it's not a very good card". Sli also has issues, so please don't say the issues are amd-only.

according to ur logic nVidia should also be discontinuing the 690 and the Titan
about 4 GPUs- most games are not made to utilize 4 GPUs effectively, but they can use 2
also there's the price factor, the 780s are almost 300$ cheaper and perform almost as good as a Titan
and having 2 cards on one board leads to cooling issues
as for ur proof u can browse around these forums u will find it

Wow... seems like a lot of good options... At this point, I'm definitely leaning away from AMD cards, the 7990s have had a lot of problems. Does anyone have any suggestions on a 780 setup vs a Titan setup vs something like a 680/690 setup? I simply want to take the time to make sure I make the best decision I can.

Thanks for all the responses everyone!

EDIT: I also only saw one response for specifics about the water loop. Considering I'm completely new to custom water cooling, I'm really desperate for advice on that as well. Thanks!

At $3500, this build was designed to be a great performer without being too overkill.

You have an i7 in a motherboard designed for massive overclocks. 32 GB of fast memory for your video editing. A massive SSD paired with the two fastest HDDs in RAID 0. Two 780's can easily max out any game at 1440P. To finish off the build, a solid case, PSU and Bluray reader were added.

You can add another 780 or two if needed down the road. There's plenty of expandability options.

I can't help you with custom water-cooling, sorry!

If I had that much cash I'd buy a 10x 7950 altcoin mining rig and a 3x 7970 gaming rig, custom watercooled
