I live in the very humid northeast united states, new york to be specific. I'm mentally preparing myself to invest in a gaming/ video PC but I'm worried about crud building up all over the components from the airflow through the case. I live in a house that features seldom air-conditioning and lots of pet hair/ dander.

I've noticed that some cases are available with air filters for the air entering the case. Do the filters help? if so, how much? and what mid or full tower cases can you recommend that feature air filter's.

Any decent case will support dust filters of some kind on the intake fans, though you can always put on your own aftermarket or more DIY (ie, pantyhose) solutions. Check reviews of the case, a lack of dust filters is a pretty big negative and would be pointed out. Hardware Canucks do great case reviews and cover most of the more common options.

Dust filters help in that the dust doesnt end up inside the system, its easier to clean the filter and lightly dust down the internals than to do a proper clean of the inside.
