GPU isn't sending a signal to the monitor

I have recently finished my new pc. While trying to see if I could enter the BIOS setup, I connected an hdmi cable to the HDMI port on my gpu (Nvidia gtx 660 OC) and connected the output to a TV-screen. I booted it up, everything seemed okay; the case fans, cpu fans and the gpu fans were all spinningand both the red and green indicator LED's were lit. But the monitor didn't seem to receive any signal. I looked it up in the gpu manual, It told me that I could only connect an hdmi cable to a dedicated PC screen, which seemed weird to me (but then again, It is my first time building a pc). If found an old DVH cable, attached it with a DVI adapter to the DVI port, connected it to an actual pc-screen; No signal... Again. I opened the case, checked if everything was securely tightened and in place, but still I couldn't find the cause. Does anyone have an idea as to What the cause could be and if it's fixable or not?

This site has been helping me from the start, Hopefully you can help me one more time.

Most new mOtherboards have the ipgpu set as the first video output. Try the video cable on the mb video ports. On some mb they won't post right till a bios update. Try pulling the gpu and leave one stick of ram if you don't see the mb post screen. Before you pull the parts out near the CPU...most new motherboards now have CPU power plug on the edge of the mb. It be four or eight pins. You need to have cables plugged into that power plug.

Every single plug was properly connected. Reconnecting the gpu didn't do any good either. And removing RAM just seemed unnecessary. Isn't there another explanation and/or solution?
