combine memory cards from 2 identical computers?

I have 2 Dell dimension E-310 bought new at the same time. can I remove memory cards from one and add to the other to double the memory?

And looking online, I'm seeing different configurations. Crucial shows 2 slots, 2GB max

In any case, it should be fine. Try it. If it works, it works. If it doesn't boot properly, just take the 2 new sticks out.

Computer shows Ram at .009GB. I don't know how to establish what the mother board can handle. Both computers have 4 slots for 6"? sticks but only 2 in use,

Yes, it should work without a sweat. Since, both the system support the same memory specs in fact they are the same model it should work but in the hindsight you need to be careful if one of the system is refurbished or if one of the motherboard was replaced. But otherwise you should be fine.
