i am upgrading from a Q8400 since no i have realized it is completely obsolete in MMOs
i loved planetside 2 but because of the insanely low fps, i want to change my cpu
150$ only for cpu (not planning on overclocking)

i5 3450 (140$)
i5 2400 (120$)
i5 3350p (130$)
i5 2500k (140$)

also will a fx6300 suffice for a good enough upgrade

Solution
I would recommend the 2500k and try to overclock over 4.0Ghz. I have read plenty of reviews saying this game really starts to respond well to Intel CPUs at or above 4.0Ghz. I don't know if the 2500k overclocks that far, I have just heard that this is recommended for stellar PS2 performance.

I am in love with Planetside 2, and am building a whole new rig just to play it better, among other things. My current build with an i5 2320 @ 3.0Ghz and a 660ti FTW Signature 2 still only gets me 20 fps in large battles. There's times I'm CPU bound in the Warpgate! Kind of amazing when I get 60fps on Battlefield 3 Ultra, but what can you do...

Hopefully the devs keep chiseling away at the optimization issues. A couple of people in my outfit have...

I want to know where you're getting those for under $200
