Yesterday I reformatted my hard drive for a nice clean start over. My computer had other problems in the past but they were easy fixes. All day it was running fine but last night it started freezing. It would load windows then freeze, then it would start freezing before I could even get to windows login. The hardware in it is about 4 years old.

And now when I try to boot up my computer nothing happens. The fans turn on, LEDs turn on, hard drive spins up, GPU fans spin up, there are lights on the motherboard, but nothing happens after that except 2 beeps. On a normal startup I get 1 beep. I know that 2 beeps indicate that there is a problem but I'm not sure what it is.

So I decided to take out the RAM and try running without it in, there were no beeps, when I put them back in and tried again beeps were back. I also tried taking out the CMOS battery but that didn't do anything either.

Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-X58A-UD3R

Does anybody have any other thoughts?

This might not be related though could be helpful, I've had similar problem with my graphics card becoming 1-2mm loose from socket. Though I've never had POST errors after formatting a HDD. RAM related perhaps?

Have you tried unplugging all but basic components?

If you dont have a m/board manual, this might help you: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
