CPU not supported

Swapped out my CPU due to the original CPU was damaged when cleaning the fan. Installed the same brand, and watts...now I get the CPU not supported message and the PC powers off. Any suggestions?

system specs? you might have to upgrade the bios.

Thank you. I'm new at this... Can I use a disc or thumb drive? As well, would the download be available at the HP website as its an HP or AMD since they made the CPU?

I might suggest resetting the CMOS clock if you haven't tried that yet

Removed the battery on the motherboard to reset the CMOS. No change. Tried to reboot with a bios update on a thumb drive. No change. Still CPU not supported. Any other ideas....go to a repair shop?

I'll suggest checking the voltage of your CMOS battery which should be 3v (usually type CR2032) - replacement of the battery if bad my be the ticket

You swapped the exact same cpu for another one?
There was a bios upgrade available from hp for your motherboard?
