Recently I've been having a lot of issues with games crashing to the desktop randomly. The game will freeze for a few seconds, crash, and then stay in the taskbar and not allow me to open it without ending the process in task manager (in the case of most games). There are a few, however, that will crash and allow me to reopen the window, but drop my frames from around 60 to 10. I'm currently running Windows 7 64 bit, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core 3.60 GHz, and an MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard (8 GB of RAM as well).

And here's the three error logs I got from my most recent crash in Borderlands 2:

Recently? Nothing much, since I've been afraid I was messing things up by changing too much stuff. But I recall that a month or so ago I updated to the 320 drivers for Nvidia and that's when the issue first started to become more problematic and common.

Uninstall the nvidia drivers, run the driver sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweepe... , and reinstall another version of the drivers (try a new beta or older stable)

I tried that, and it worked for a while before doing the same thing again. Game freezes and lowers my fps and eventually crashes to the desktop.

About 46°C for my GPU and 40°C for my CPU while playing Borderlands 2, max settings.

Which PSU do you have?

You say you're using the same setup for long and the only change you've made is updating the nVidia controller? Sure of this? No overclocking, power variations or any other change?

Scan for viruses/malware, stress test the cpu alone (prime95), and then the gpu alone (furmark), and then both running, see what problems you get. I would also reinstall windows on a seperate partition (created with the empty space) then run games on there to see if issues arise.

My apologies for not responding as of late, been somewhat busy. I'll open up my computer and check my PSU in a sec, as I'm pretty sure that's the issue. I ran a lot of tests with OCCT and so far the power supply test is the only one that's frozen up and had issues.

Edit: Alright, my PSU is a Corsair CX 600

Again, my apologies for the double post, but as far as I can tell my current power supply is only fine for my GPU when not gaming, as my GPU tends to reach temps of 45-60 degrees, and the CX600 is only expected to perform at max power with temps of 30 degrees. So would I be correct in the assumption that I need a new power supply?

Corsair CX600? No, that's a good PSU for your build, unless it is damaged for some reason.

It seemed to be a GPU crash, since you said your games minimize and re-open with very low FPS (no GPU used).

I don't know if i can help you more. Just be sure you checked all these:

-Absolutely clean driver uninstall and install latest one (using DriverSweeper and efficiency-known driver).
-Every component well connected and health of your cables, specially your PCIe ones.
-Health of your PSU.
-No malware or viruses (not likely, unless you are some kind of savage-archive-downloader)
-GPU fans working well.
-Safe temperatures (checked with HWMonitor)
-No overclock.

Hope something helps.

Good luck.

You problem may be caused by your memory and/or memory BIOS settings.
What is the part number of the memory you are using?
What BIOS readings do you have for:
DRAM Frequency
Adjusted DRAM Frequency
DRAM Timing Mode
