Can a Power Supply ever be too big or new?

Title says it all. I have an old computer that mysteriously died recently (nothing happens when I press the power button, and the LED on the power supply doesn't even turn on) and I also have a new 430 watt power supply that I accidentally ordered recently.

Could installing this new power supply into the broken computer do damage to either one? According to the tiny print on the broken computer's power supply, I think it is a 250 watt version. And if I try and it doesn't work, would I still be able to return the new power supply to Newegg?

Thanks guys!

It won't damage anything and in fact, I would recommend using the 430 watt one over the old 250 watt one. It gives you more breathing room for upgrading later on if you want. You can return it before the 30 day return period, but if you do a little damage to anything (dent, scratched paint, etc) they may not take it back because no one wants to buy damaged CPU parts right?
