What would happen if I were to Sli these two video cards:

Galaxy GeForce GTX 680 GC 1110MHZ 4GB 3004MHZ
AND
Msi N680GTX-PM2D2GD5 2GB.

Would there be an issue with the fact that one is 4GB while the later is 2gb?
Would the first one be hindered by the second?
Would there be any difference vs going SLI with 2x 2gb cards?

Thanks!

Solution
the 4GB card will be bottlenecked by the 2gb card. it will bring it down to just a 2gb card so basically, you'll only be able to use 2gb of vram. i suggest you just go to 2x2 so that no money is wasted

Ah by the way, is there any risk to mix brand?

Like If I wanted to mix:
1: Msi N680GTX-PM2D2GD5 2GB.
with
1: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 OC 1071MHZ 2GB 6.0GHZ

?

Also, would I be better with one 4gb or 2x 2GB?

Ah yeah I'm aware of that, but sadly, I already own one GTX 680 :( Wish I could just get it refunded but I have it for 10 months now.

no. the only issue is that the slower card will be the standard. for example, you have a 980mhz and 1070mhz, both card will work on the slower frequency which is 980 mhz. the same card and brand would be preferable but mixed brands can be SLIed as long as they are both gtx 680.

and for the 4gb, of course 2x gtx 680 2gb is better than a single 4gb gtx 680.

Alright thanks a lot :) I plan to run my games at 3240 x 1920 with 3x 1080p 24" in portrait mode. So I believe I will need a second GTX 680 to still be able to run my games at ultra ;)
