i want a fairly decent pc for gaming but it wont be my only use. it will almost constantly have to be on and editing pictures and music is something i would like to be able to do. i have a dvd r/w drive and a hdd that i can bring forward from my old pc. OS does not need to be included and neither does microsoft office.

For Audio and Pictures editing the i5 should be better for the price.

The real advantage of the 8350 is in Video Editing. If you are Video Editing (which you did not specified), then you should probably go for the 8350, but for Audio and Music Editing the i5 is better since they are mostly Single Threaded stuff and i5 is better in single threaded apps.
For 700 Pounds it has everything you need and every component in this build is a quality component. So there is nothing like "Compromise".

It has got a i5 4670 which is a very powerful CPU.

It has also got a Nvidia 770 which is again a Fantastic GPU (3rd best single GPU card, only after the 1000 dollar Titan and the 650-700 dollar 780), so you are ensured with good gaming performance as well.

The RAM is from Gskill which is a trust worthy company.

The HDD is from Seagate which again is a very good HDD maker.

The PSU is from XFX which has one of the best PSU's and also the 550W should be easily enough for your system even under full load.

The Fractal Design Core 1000 is a very good little case that offers functionality but does not break the bank with it's good price. It also has USB 3 support which might come in handy.

So there you have it an awesome Gaming/Editing/Server PC for you :
