I recently custom built a computer; after assembly and installation of windows the computer froze during a restart to install updates. I tried doing a fresh install many times but nothing helped solve my problem. I brought the machine to a local PC store where they found that the power supply was faulty, so I sent for a replacement. I installed the new PSU last night and the freezing problem was still occurring. The system specs are as follows; Asus P8Z77-V LK, Intel Core i5-3350p, Geforce GTX 760, 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, Corsair 650TX, and OS is Windows 7 pro 64bit.

So far I have checked the RAM, run CHKDSK on the hard drive, switched data cables on my optical drive and hard drive, reset the BIOS, and as mentioned above I have also re-installed Windows and replaced the power supply.

When given the option the computer will boot into safe mode, but once I install the newest drivers and restart, the computer begins to freeze.

I have no idea what I can do at this point so if anybody has a solution they can offer, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Have you tried updating the BIOS? I had a similar problem on my Intel motherboard and I fixed it with a BIOS update.

There might be a problem with wattage on your current power supply. Can you tell us what power supply you are using?

For testing purposes I would recommend having only one video card running. Having second card either would confuse drivers and induce more power draw for your power supply.

I'm using a 650w PSU, from the wattage calculator on the Asus website I'm well in the clear, I'm also only running one GPU.
