Ok, I am looking to dual boot a windows 7 and osx/l/sl.... The only problem is that I am running an AMD FX, though I know it's somewhat possible- with a legacy kernel.

I just don't know where to start, as most hackintosh sites don't offer support for this.

I was hoping someone here may have some knowledge on this, or have better uber searching skills to point me in the right direction.

My system is;
AMD FX 8350
MSI 990xa-gd55
AMD HD 7970 OC 3GB
16 GB 1866 RAM
1000w psu

It looks like your kernel is Bronzovka 10.7.5

A breakdown of what works with what is here:

Kernel in zip:

I looked through the forum on. Didn't seem like the most stable thing out there...

Thanks for the reply- great help!
That's why I come here >.<

I knew it was t going to the most stable already- this is just going to be for kicks- I think I'm going to do a separate drive for this so as not to disturb the win7 installation.

Definitely a good idea. I remember when I tried to create a partition on an accelerated disk to install Ubuntu on. My storage controller got reset when I tried to partition the drive, breaking the RAID on my two SSDs and the acceleration on the HDD. Rebuilding required creating new arrays for everything, effectively destroying all my data. Worse yet, I had my backup drive hooked to the back of my machine and forgot about it. Both it and my internal HDD are Seagate 1TB disks, so I accidentally used it to rebuild the accelerated array, wiping it in the process.

Luckily, my paranoia led me to have double-redundant backups, so my most valuable data was saved.

Long story short, be careful. Very, very careful.

This is my first attempt at anything like, now you got me very worried-

I don't have RAID system setup, I have a SSD w/ win7, and old install of win7 on another- and a couple of data drives. I was going to use an old drive I have laying around and wipe it an install osx/l/sl on it and have a dual boot setup via boot loader.

Like I said this is my first time trying and am unsure of what problems ill run into, but love the idea....

I have a dream, but no idea how to get there aside from trial and error- seems to be that way most of the time with computers, at least with me lol

OS X is not near as easy to get going on a AMD as it once was. I can remember running it on one of my older AMD builds a few years ago but when I upgraded to my AMD Phenom II 1090T I could never get it going again. Of course that was on a older build of OS X.

OS X is the main reason I built my i5 3570K rig. It was with out a dought the easiest and fastest install of OS X I have ever had. Good luck with it I worked for a few weeks trying to get OS X to boot correctly on my FX rig and finally gave up. When it was finally time in January to build my new rig I went intel for the first time in many years just so I could dual boot Windows 7 and now Windows 8 and OS X 10.8.4. One of the best things now is even after a update say from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4 the only thing I had to redo was to reinstall the audio drivers that is it.
