Good Router for a Big Apartment?

I got a 2000 sq feet apartment and I want to use wireless. I am currently using a Linksys WRT120N and I feel like my desktop isn't fully connected to the router. It will sometimes lose connections because the signal isn't strong enough (2 bars out of 5).
So I was wondering if there are recommendations of what routers to use in a big house that is under $100? (cheaper if possible, but reliability over cheapness though). I also play a lot games so I need to be able to forward ports and stuff. My Internet speed is 50mbps if that matters.

Unfortunately, that's not an option. The modem and router are downstairs and I don't want everyone tripping everywhere on the stairs if there's a long ethernet cable going upstair. Plus, it looks ugly.

Nope, landlord doesn't not allow any holes on the walls or any photos hanging with a nail.

I might have to try a wireless bridge/repeater then. Why can't they make better routers for 2000sq feet homes? seesh. haha.
