The best monitor you can buy is one that fits you. Unlike other parts, the monitor is the one that you literally look at everyday and must be comfortable with. So, if you can head down to a local best buy or some other place that have live monitors setup so that you can look at them and find the one that your eyes can best agree with within your budget. Then go research that monitor on the net. Look for things like short life, and other issues, don't just go by what the salesman says at best buy, in fact, if they ask you if you need help tell him no thanks and just browse and toy with the monitors. I would recommend a brand/model, but no two people are alike, and one monitor that is great for one person would suck for another. (I like samsungs myself, but my wife hates it lol)
