my games have stupid fps drop will new cpu cooling help.

Okay so i have a pretty beast pc . 12gb ram windows 8 64bit , gtx 650 ti boost 2gb, FX8150 8 core 3.9 ghz. So on games they ruj fine for two mins then they will have dramatic fps drop for a few second maybr like 5 to 10 seconds even when standing still , no matter what graphic setting . Even games like the binding of isaac and farcry 3 . I dw a programme of cpud and it says it goes up to 150 to 200 (c)':0 im using stockcooler . Would better cooling stop this and does anyone have ideas around 20 to 30 pound .... thanks finn

Oh i also have tried to get all the dust out pc it is spotless and no result ...i have air compressed aswell.

Sounds like you put the cooler on badly.

Could also be that you didn't apply new thermal paste after changing the cooler, or you screwed up the thermal paste that comes with the stock cooler.

I did the thermal paste my self ... i thought i did it pretty well and it has only juat started to do this unless thermal paste neds replacing evry so often

Your CPU is going to die soon with those temps.. I don't know why your pc don't shut off, when it gets so high! If i were you, I would get a new cooler. I'm personally gonna get the H100i from corsair soon.
Try using an other temp monitoring software.. Sometimes the software bugs out, and show extreme temps, when it's actually a normal temp.
Also, how much of your CPU do you use when gaming?

Check and make sure the heatsink is mounted firmly. I made the mistake on my i5 and somehow the heatsink wasn't seated firmly allowing 100C+ temps.

but still up to 255(C) when starting up dark souls , i have tried 2 different tpyes of cpu temp readers ( CPUID hwmoniter , Core Temp) and they both say the same god damn thing

so will me buying a new cpu help the stupid fps drop and could you recommend any coolers that are not over £30.00 thanks so much Finn. oh and my pc has great airflow and lots of fans inside

Place a cloth on the heatsink when the computer get hot, and then quickly take it away. Has it been singed or is warm?

No. Use a dry cloth. It's just to see if the heatsink is as hot as the software says.

There is just no way it is 255C. It would have shut down.

Yeah that is what i think . I mean the pc inside is very cool . The cpu Fan sounds like a jbo jet as it is jus the small stock one

I don't know.. But your CPU is now running 200 degrees! It would melt..
