Hi,

I've recently just built my pc and installed win7 onto the SSD. When I turn on the PC with the SSD on boot priority 1, it goes straight to bios, and I can only boot from the HDD to get windows running. Booting from the SSD again just makes it go straight back to bios.

If I disconnect the SSD or HDD from the pc, than it does not boot at all and just goes straight to bios.

I know i can just change the boot priority for the HDD to be first but shouldnt the SSD boot as thats where win7 is installed on.

Solution

With 2 drives connected, Windows 7 & 8 install Windows on the selected drive, and the boot info on the other.
With only one drive connected, it forces Windows to install the boot info ( the System Reserved partition) on the one drive.

So...install with two drives connected, an SSD and HDD...disconnect one or the other, and no boot.

Install with only the SSD installed. After everything is OK, connect the HDD
Disk Manager, and delete that 100MB System Reserved partition.
