Hello everyone. I recently replaced an AMD 6970 with an AMD 7870. There was nothing wrong with the former card but I was just borrowing it from a friend while waiting on the 7870.
What I soon noticed was that every game seems to crash to desktop at some point. Sometimes it's after 15 minutes, and at other times it can take up to 2 hours before it crashes. Examples of games that have crashed include Dragon Age, Deus EX: HR, Half Life, Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed 3, Left 4 Dead, etc. No matter what I play, the game eventually crashes and it's frustrating.
Originally I was getting blue screens of death but then
I tried uninstalling drivers with driver sweeper and then reinstalling newer drivers, which fixed the blue screens but my games still crash to desktop all the time.
Most of the time I get the usual "Game has stopped working" prompt but sometimes I don't even get that. It just goes straight to desktop.
If you have any idea what might be wrong, I would greatly appreciate any insight.
