Greetings!

A friend of mine lent me his copy of Crysis so I could install it and play it. All worked out well until I launched the game and realized how laggy it was. I have a Samsung 1080p HDTV and it says "1920x1080 24p". I need to get that up to 60 HZ and I can't seem to find a way around that.

I Googled the problem, and a lot of the people who reported having the problems were all running Nvidia cards. I am using an AMD Radeon HD 7950. Can someone please point me to a workaround? I tried looking around in the game config, tried disabling vsync, creating a custom resolution and none of these worked.

Thanks. Please, fanboys, don't give me some measly answer saying something along the lines of "Radeon sucks, get Nvidia". I refuse to use Nvidia cards after having bad luck with them. Enough said.

I look forward to some useful solutions.

Some solutions that should work IMO -
Try gaming on a monitor to realise the issue ( Easiest way to realise the issue )
1. Try using DVI if possible. Most HD 7950's have the DVI output , or you can use something like a HDMI to DVI adapter.
2. Check the TV Settings for Display/Gaming. Maybe its the TV which is setting the frame lock. Most Samsung TV's do have a gaming profile , try using that one.
3. Reduce the settings. The 7950 isn't going to reach Ultra or even Very High. Mine was good enough to reach High on a OC to 1100MHz.
4. Try using the Catalyst Control Centre. Maybe a wrong setting ( can't tell which one exactly ) is causing that issue.
5. Check if the GPU is connected to a PCI-e 2.0X16 slot for optimum performance.

The message of "1920x1080 24p" makes me feel its your TV causing this.

I know for sure that it's the TV. All of my other games have worked flawlessly. I can't find a gaming option anywhere. How do I get to it? Is it just going to affect the brightness? If so, that won't do any good. This is a newer TV. I just bought it a few months ago, so who knows what they've changed?

BTW, the 7950 is more than enough to run the game. I don't know what your card is tripping on.

I know the HD 7950 can go on Very High TBH , but I need FPS above 50 , not something just crippling between 30-40 , so I said High. Most PC gamers prefer 40FPS+ , you probably aren't amongst those. Also nope , they didn't , I have a 4 month old and 2 year old one and both have game mode which is here -
Menu > Setup > General > Game Mode > On ( while the TV claims a degradation in picture quality , it doesn't happen at all )

RIGHT? I have the same problem. It depends on the TV, but it also depends on the game, which seem to ignore the driver-set scaling settings most of the time...

Sorry, I tried everything with my HD 6870 and it's still a toss-up whether I get auto-scaling + 24p or no-scaling (as is set in the driver) with the full 60. For some reason racing games, Darksiders, Batman, Sonic, and RAGE all work perfectly, but Crysis 1&2 and Prince of Persia do not.
